Rasuwa, Aug 10: Following heavy rains and floods on Ashad 23 (mid-July) in Rasuwa district, initial insurance claims have reached NPR 985.9 million. According to the Nepal Insurance Authority, by Shrawan 22 (early August), a total of 78 insurance claims were filed. These include property insurance, nine marine insurance claims, five engineering and contractor risk claims, 16 private motor insurance claims, and 42 public motor insurance claims.

The Authority reports the highest claims with Himalayan Everest Insurance at NPR 55 crore, followed by Shikhar Insurance Company with NPR 169.6 million, Nepal Insurance Company with NPR 87.3 million, and Sanima GIC with NPR 68.5 million. Other insurers such as Neco Insurance, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance, United Ajod Insurance, IGI Prudential, NLG Insurance, Siddhartha Premier, and Prabhu Insurance received claims ranging from NPR 28 lakh to NPR 56.7 million.

The floods in the Lehende River washed away vehicles parked at the customs yard near the Nepal-China border at the Miteri Bridge. The Rasuwagadhi Hydropower and other structures also suffered damage due to the flood.
