Bhairahawa Aug 9: The Rupandehi District Prison has said it has taken special measures for the safety of former deputy prime minister Rabi Lamichhane during his stay in custody.
In a statement issued on Friday, prison chief Suresh Bhandari said Lamichhane, who is being held at the Bhairahawa prison in connection with a cooperative fraud case, has been given a separate room. The suspended House of Representatives member has been in custody for four months.
Bhandari said prison officials regularly check on Lamichhane’s needs and well-being, responding to media reports that questioned his treatment. He denied claims that Lamichhane was subjected to discrimination inside the prison.
