Kathmandu, August 8: The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has made a procedure to give the responsibility of sending Nepali workers to South Korea to the private sector-owned manpower companies. The process has been approved by the Ministry.
In recent years, more than 11,000 Nepali workers have gone to Korea under the EPS system through G-to-G (Government-to-Government) at a very cheap fee. Workers will not have to pay more than 52,000 rupees and 61 US dollars for an air ticket to go to Korea through G-to-G. The workers will have to pay 6 to 7 lakh rupees to go to Korea through the manpower companies.
According to the Ministry, 22,000 Nepali workers went to Korea in 2079, 11,000 in 2080 and 11,000 in 2081 through the G-to-G system. The Korean government has been taking Nepali workers since 2008.
South Korea has two types of visas, E-9 and E-7. The E-7 visa system is for skilled workers and the E-9 visa system is for general workers. In the procedure passed by the Ministry, the E-7 visa system has been opened for companies. From the G-to-G system, Nepali workers have been taken to Korea through the E-9 visa system.
To go to South Korea from company to company, the worker must have learned technical skills in the field of plumbing, driving, hazing, etc. But people who do not have a technical chip from the E-9 visa system can also apply to go to Korea. Spokesperson Ghimire said that the way has been opened for the E-7 visa system in the process.
