Kathmandu, August 8: The government has decided to give huge discounts on various fees to attract international flights to Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation issued a press release on Friday stating that, according to the decision of the Council of Ministers, concessions have been provided in four different types of fees for the period up to September 16, 2026.
According to Gokarna Prasad Upadhyay, co-spokesperson and information officer of the Ministry, four types of discounts have been given on international flight operators from Pokhara and Gautam Buddha Airport.

Discounts to the air service operators:

The passenger service fee of 3,000 has been completely waived off.
Similarly, the fare per passenger on air tickets of Rs 1,000 has also been completely waived off.
Parking, landing and navigation charges for international flights at these airports are also fully waived.
75% discount on ground handling service charges required for international flights has been provided at the airport.
This decision of the government will significantly reduce the cost of operating flights at these two airports for international airlines.
This is expected to encourage airlines to start direct international flights from outside Kathmandu as well.
