Kathmandu, August 7: The Bagmati Province government has declared a public holiday across the Province on Sunday (August 10) on the occasion of the Gayajatra festival.
According to the information officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Ravita Karki, the decision of the cabinet and the information have been published in the Province Gazette. This also includes a public holiday on the day of Gaijatra.
Implementing the Provincial Government Working Language Act, 2080, according to the Act, a meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to give a public holiday on Gaijatra. Gaijatra is a major cultural festival of the Newar community, which is celebrated grandly in various Newar-dominated areas of Bagmati Province, including the Kathmandu Valley.
