Washington, Aug 4: The US has accused India of financing the war against Ukraine by buying oil from Russia.
A senior official in US President Donald Trump’s administration has accused India of financing the war against Ukraine by buying oil from Russia.
Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff and one of Trump’s most influential aides, said, “India continues to finance this war by buying oil from Russia. He said that Trump has made it clear that this is not acceptable.”
According to Reuters, India will continue to buy Russian oil despite US threats. India has not directed its oil refiners to stop buying Russian oil.
According to a Bloomberg report, both state and private refiners are allowed to buy from preferred sources and the purchase of crude oil will remain a commercial decision.
The US is pressuring New Delhi to stop trading with Moscow, and is using tariffs as a weapon, NDTV reported.
