Kathmandu – Police have made it clear that their crackdown on criminal activities will not be halted. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishwa Adhikari, Chief of the Kathmandu District Police Office, said that a full-scale operation is underway across Kathmandu to neutralize the activities of gangsters.

“Gangsters won’t be given space to operate. Our operation is ongoing. We’ve already compiled a list of those involved in such unwanted activities in Kathmandu, and they’re being tracked down and brought under legal action,” said SSP Adhikari.

As part of the operation, police arrested 47 people from Hotel Sambala in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, on Friday. Among them, 19 individuals, including Milan Gurung, alias ‘Chakre Milan’, have been charged with activities against public interest and are under investigation with an extended seven-day detention order, Adhikari said.

The remaining 28 individuals were released on the condition they report to the police regularly, though investigations against them are still ongoing. “Since more complaints could come in against the 19 individuals, anyone can file complaints. We are also investigating their involvement in other crimes. The released individuals are also still under scrutiny,” he added.

According to police, the operation against criminal activities in Kathmandu is being carried out with the support of the Valley Crime Investigation Office.
