Kathmandu, June 23: Tea exports from Mechi Customs Office in Kakarvitta, Jhapa, have increased by 40.50 percent in the 11 months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 BS. According to the office's data, tea worth 3 billion 86 crore 64 lakh 78 thousand rupees has been exported so far.

Ishwar Kumar Humagain, Information Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, said that 14,463.33 metric tons of tea have been exported in the current 11 months. In the same period last year, 2080/81 BS, tea worth 2.75 billion rupees was exported, equivalent to 28.32 million rupees.

According to the record, cardamom export has decreased by 3.80 percent till the last month of the current year 2081/82. In the 11 months of current income, cardamom worth 7181.73 billion has been exported. During the same period last year, 2080/81, cardamom worth 7.46 billion 68.76 million was exported.

According to the data, the main items of export have increased by 67 percent in veneer sheet, 9.6 percent in iron ore, 11.60 percent in plywood and 400.50 percent in molasses export. Similarly, cement clinker has decreased by 12.60%, ginger by 59.70%, gingelly by 15.2% and chhurpi by 7.7%. The current revenue from Mechi customs is 23.28 billion 35.56 thousand worth of goods exported in 11 months.
