Kathmandu, June 22: The Nepal Police has detained three Indian nationals, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Hyderabad, for entering the country without official clearance and attempting to apprehend a Nepali citizen linked to a theft case in India.

According to media reports, the individuals were arrested in Kathmandu last Friday while allegedly trying to detain a Nepali man accused of stealing property worth around 30 million Indian rupees in Hyderabad. The group had reportedly crossed into Nepal secretly, disguised as civilians, to carry out their mission.

Their suspicious movements drew the attention of local police, who apprehended them in Swayambhu. The detainees were later handed over to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. This incident follows a similar episode in the month of Falgun, when members of the Punjab Police were detained in Thamel for conducting an unauthorized operation. That case resulted in disciplinary action against DSP Nishant Srivastav from Lamjung.

The recent arrest has triggered diplomatic unease, with experts warning that foreign law enforcement operating on Nepali soil without prior coordination breaches both international norms and bilateral agreements. Such incidents, they argue, reflect poor cross-border cooperation and infringe on Nepal’s sovereignty.
