The Embassy of the Russian Federation observed the Russian National Day ceremony in Kathmandu on June 10.
On the occasion, Russian Ambassador Aleksei A. Novikov hosted a reception Tuesday evening in Kathmandu.

The event gathered a distinguished and diverse audience, including ambassadors of friendly countries, government ministers, members of the Parliament of Nepal, leadership of the Mitra Kunja Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities, prominent figures from sports and humanitarian organizations, leading entrepreneurs, journalists, and opinion leaders.

The Guest of Honor at the reception was the Vice President of Nepal, Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav. In his cordial address, the Vice President praised the high level of organization of the event and warmly congratulated the Russian people on their national holiday. He emphasized the traditionally friendly relations between Nepal and Russia, expressed gratitude for Russia’s longstanding contribution to Nepal’s development, and wished for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador of Russia to Nepal Alexey Novikov delivered a vibrant and wide-ranging speech, welcoming the guests and highlighting Russia’s role in contemporary global affairs, the consistent development of Russian-Nepalese relations, and the growing partnership in various spheres, including trade, energy, education, culture, and humanitarian exchanges. The Ambassador also underlined the special importance of people-to-people ties and mutual understanding between the nations.

A special highlight of the evening was a performance by the Russian folk music ensemble Russkiye Umeltsy, who captivated the audience with their vivid renditions of classic Russian songs such as Kalinka and Katyusha. An unforgettable moment of cultural unity occurred when the ensemble performed the famous Moscow Nights together with the Kathmandu Youth Orchestra, receiving a rapturous response from the audience.

Guests were also treated to a variety of traditional Russian delicacies, allowing them to experience the rich flavors of Russian cuisine.

The reception was marked by its festive atmosphere, warm exchanges, and productive dialogue, further contributing to the spirit of friendship and cooperation between Russia and Nepal.
