Kathmandu, May 29: The pro-monarchy groups have launched an indefinite period-long movement for the restoration of a Hind kingdom from today, coinciding with the day when the nation was declared a republic, 17 years ago.
Around 50 different pro-monarchy political parties and groups have jointly launched the movement coordinated by senior leader Navaraj Subedi of the People's Movement Committee. The rallies started from seven different corners of the Kathmandu Valley and headed towards the Santi Batika in Ratnapark. A human sea appeared at Ratnapark demanding the restoration of the Hindu kingdom and abolishment of the provinces.
Pro-monarchy groups gathered at Tripureshwar, Sundhara, Maitidevi, Sifal, Naxal, among other places, are heading towards Ratnapark chanting slogans against republicanism and demanding the restoration of a Hindu kingdom.
Meanwhile, Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s spokesman Mohan Shrestha claimed that the security personnel are creating hurdles for those arriving in Kathmandu from different parts of the country to take part in the movement. RPP chairman Rajendra Lingden has asked its party workers to come to Kathmandu to participate in the movement for the restoration of the Hindu kingdom.
