Kathmandu, May 29: In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel presented the economic survey for the current fiscal year. Later the same day, he presented the budget for the new fiscal year.
The Minister had to present the economic survey on Wednesday, a day earlier than the presentation of the budget for the new fiscal year. Due to the visit visa scandal, Wednesday’s meeting was disrupted by the opposition parties. However, an understanding has been made to allow the government to present the budget today by holding other House business until the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, a responsible authority in the visit visa scandal.   

In the current fiscal year, the country's economic growth rate is estimated to be 4.61 percent. Finance Minister Poudel stated that, regionally, provinces except Madhesh, Koshi, and Sudurpashchim are expected to have an economic growth rate above the national average economic growth rate.

In the current fiscal year, the size of the country's economy is estimated to reach NPR 61 trillion, seven billion.

The contribution of the agricultural sector to the total gross domestic product is estimated to be 25.16 percent, the industrial sector 12.83 percent, and the service sector 62.01 percent, Finance Minister Poudel informed the house.

According to the economic survey, as of the end of Falgun in the current fiscal year, the per capita gross national income is expected to increase to 1,517 US dollars, and the average consumer inflation rate is projected to be 4.72 percent.

Presently, Minister Poudel is presenting the budget for the new fiscal year.
