It has already been proved that the present political system is not going to make the nation prosperous and the Nepali citizens happy. Undermining the plight of a large section of people and the greater interests of the nation, a certain group of political brokers and political leaders are exploiting the nation’s treasury. For those leaders who are in power, money is everything. They are ready to export our youths abroad either under the cover of the Bhutanese refugees or with a visit visa. Our leaders are directly involved in human trafficking. What happens to those who enter a foreign country on a visit visa and stay illegally there, we can imagine. They are treated as slaves, females are forced to go to the brothels and dance bars by the brokers. Our political leaders and concerned bureaucrats are less bothered about such a fate of those youths in the foreign land, eventually, leaders and brokers are concerned about collecting money allowing them to go abroad.
A dangerous narrative has been developed, “politics for money and money for politics”. Earn money through whichever means, buy votes, become a leader and continue exploiting the nation’s coffer. Some brokers are active and the political leaders are running behind these brokers. The leaders are even involved in policy corruption. The nation’s treasury has become empty, the very ministers are saying it.
Many contemporary issues could be resolved if appropriate laws are introduced and maintained financial discipline, or say, good governance by all. Unfortunately, corruption and commission have become rampant. The court is not independent and impartial as it has turned into a political workers' recruitment center. The civil service has been dominated by the sister organizations of the political parties. The private school operators have dominated the education sector. The universities have turned into the venue producing party workers. Tribhuvan University has been heavily politicized and remains open just a few months a year. Otherwise, different students and employee organizations lock down the gates of the university. The constitutional bodies have become the party workers' recruitment venue.
At a time when the government is observing Republic Day, we see no hope among the people in the present system. Except for those party workers, the general public seeking a political change. They are seeking restoration of the institution of monarchy, as they hope, the king could do better than those political leaders.
