Kathmandu, May 25: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that he will conduct an impartial investigation on the “visit visa scandal”, however, he denied tendering resignation paving the way for an impartial investigation.

Lekhak’s secretariat is accused of being involved in the visit visa scandal.

The Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has started an investigation into the scandal. The immigration officials were collecting bribes from those going abroad for work with a visit visa. It is said that the immigration network was collecting a minimum of 20 million rupees per month from those illegally visiting foreign countries for labour work.

Minister Lekhak, on Saturday, released a video message saying that he would help to conduct an impartial investigation but refused to tender his resignation on moral grounds.

Meanwhile, NC leader Sekhar Koirala has said that Minister Lekhak should tender resignation supporting an impartial investigation on the scandal.

Earlier, when Rabi Lamichhane was the home minister, Lekhak was the very NC leader who had demanded his resignation on the allegation of being involved in cooperatives fraud.
