Kathmandu, May 24: The Supreme Court has denied the release of Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) from the jail.

Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Poudel had filed a petition demanding release of Lamichhane from the jail.

The Supreme Court, approving the decision of the District Court, Tulsipur, Butwal, rejected the release of Lamichhane.

The bench of SC judges Dr Nakahul Subedi and Balkrishna Dhakal approved the District Court’s decision stating that Lamichhane’s involvement in the cooperatives fraud cannot be denied.

Lamichhane is in judiciary custody on the charge of being involved in the Supreme Cooperatives.

After the SC verdict on Friday evening, Lamichhane can be released only after the District Court gives a clean chit.
