
Kathmandu, May 24: Political leaders from the major political parties and noted academicians pointed out the negative outcome of the present political system and wrong political leadership resulting in the present chaos.
Janardan Sharma, Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center and former minister, stated that there is a need for a sustainable leadership government with a corruption-free and accountable administration.
Speaking at an interaction on current political issues and solutions organized by the Center for Strategic Study on Public Policies on Friday, May 23, Sharma stated that there is a lack of good governance and accountability among the political leadership. Corruption has become a serious disease, he said and added that nepotism, favouritism and sycophancy have become common among the political leadership, thus far, the general public was unable to enjoy the fruits of loktantra.
He said, "In the past, we talked a lot about good governance and corruption. But we couldn't implement even a little. Now we need long-term leadership with a corruption-free, accountable administration. We couldn't create job opportunities in the country, most of the youth are sweating abroad. This has brought serious problems to the country. The youthful energy, enthusiasm, and hard work needed for the country's development and prosperity are now being devoted to the development and prosperity of foreign countries."
He also mentioned that the biggest factor in Nepal's unsuccessful development journey so far has been the institutions and institutional structures under the executive mechanism. He stated that Nepal is turning into a failed nation, with the people's despair and anger intensifying.
General Secretary of the Unified Socialist Party Ghanashyam Bhusal stated that the solution to the current problems lies in employment for the unemployed and good governance over bad governance. He urged to study the history of development, stability, and success and said that societies like ours need to overcome this phase.
Economist professor Dr Bishambhar Pyakurel presented a bleak economic scenario of the country.
