
Kathmandu, May 23: Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, who is on a visit to Japan, met with her Japanese counterpart, Takeshi Iwaya, on Thursday, May 22.
During the meeting, both foreign ministers discussed the bilateral relations between the two nations. Meanwhile, Minister Deuba urged the Japanese Minister to start flights of Japan Airlines to Nepal directly linking the two countries by air. Japanese counterpart Takeshi has taken it positively. Currently, Nepal Airlines is operating scheduled flights to Japan.
Minister Deuba has remarked that her meeting with the Japanese Minister was successful. Minister Deuba also extended thanks to the Japanese government for its high-level participation at the Sagarmatha Sambad on climate change and global warming.
Deuba said that Nepal and Japan are on the eve of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations. Both the ministers discussed further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Deuba is in Japan to attend an international conference on the social isolation of senior citizens. Ministers, high government officials, and social activists from more than 12 countries are participating in the conference organized by the Foundation for the Welfare and Education of Asian Citizens. Minister Deuba, who is active in the economic and social uplift of Nepali women through the Rural Women and Development Center and Safe Motherhood Network, has been invited as a special speaker in the conference.
Rana is returning home on Saturday.
