Kathmandu, May 23: Buddha Air's 72-seater aircraft has successfully conducted its test flight at Bharatpur Airport. The 72-seater aircraft, which needs a runway with a length of about 1,200 meters, made a test flight from Kathmandu to Bharatpur on Thursday morning.
Prior to this, Shree Airlines had been receiving regular passengers by conducting test flights with 80-seater aircraft. At present, Sri Air does not have regular flights. The station manager of Buddha Air Bharatpur, Bhakta Bahadur Basnet, informed that Buddha Air has successfully conducted the test flight.
Buddha Air's technicians, Nepal Civil Aviation Authority's technicians, and other technicians should grant permission for regular flights after conducting a study. Due to the surrounding houses and trees, the 72-seater aircraft was not flown because it would be difficult to land and take off. The airport is in the process of expanding.
At present, Buddha Air's 42-seater aircraft are regularly flying at this airport. As one of Buddha Air’s 42-seater aircraft is going to phase out in September, the airline has no option except to conduct the scheduled flight with its 72-seater aircraft.
Aviation experts say that until the completion of the expansion works of the Airport, the 72-seater aircraft cannot fly at full capacity.
