
Kathmandu, May 23: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Jolly has claimed that 81.2 percent of the people in Nepal want a Hindu nation. Addressing a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Jolly, who was on a visit to Nepal, said that the Nepali people have a deep feeling for a Hindu nation.
Stating that he met top leaders including President Ram Chandra Paudel during the four-day visit, he said, "81.2 percent of the people of Nepal want a Hindu nation. I am ready to support on the issue."
He said that he was confident that the leaders would reconsider according to the sentiments of the people. He also recalled Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's statement four years ago. At that time, Oli had said that Lord Ram was born in Thori. Indians had criticized the statement.
He visited Kathmandu at the invitation of the Institute for Public Policy and Partnership.
