Kathmandu, May 22: Minister of Communication and Information Technology and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung stated that the government has the authority to ban the activities of royalists. He made this statement while responding to questions from journalists after the cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday.

He mentioned that the restoration of monarchy is an anti-constitutional act. So far, the government has generously allowed those who oppose the constitution, the values and principles of established democracy, and those who wish to overturn the current governance system to hold meetings and protests. Allowing protests is not the government's cowardice but its generosity, and he warned against considering it a weakness. He stated that those who continue anti-constitutional and anti-people activities will not always be given a free pass.

He said, "It is our duty to protect this republic, which has been achieved through the blood, sweat, and hard work of so many people. We have not imposed any restrictions on the right to protest until today. The government has the constitutional and legal right to impose restrictions."

Minister Gurung stated that the government will proceed according to the nature of the activities of the royalists' movement.
