Kathmandu, May 19: A delegation from the European Union called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today at Baluwatar.
The team meeting was led by European Union Ambassador, Veronique Lorenzo. The ambassadors from the EU member countries in Kathmandu and the non-resident ambassadors from the EU countries stationed in New Delhi, India, attended the meeting. This is the first time that so many ambassadors from the European Union have arrived in Kathmandu at once for the Sagarmatha Dialogue held here.
During the meeting, the EU member countries’ ambassadors recalled the diplomatic relations between Nepal and the EU and expressed the desire to extend cooperation for economic development and good governance in Nepal.
PM Oli, on the occasion, informed about Nepal’s armed conflict, comprehensive peace agreement and promulgation of the constitution in the country.
He urged to expand investment for Nepal's prosperity and employment creation as the two major parties engaged in the country's political transformation, the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress, have formed a government with a commitment to economic development and good governance.
Oli clarified that the future destination of Nepal is stability and prosperity as there is no possibility of going back from the federal democratic republican system achieved through the people's struggle.
"Friendship with all, enmity with none," he said, adding that Nepal will have close relations with both India and China and friendly relations with other countries. He thanked everyone for participating in the first series of Sagarmatha Dialogue and said that this series will be continued by giving importance to the concept of Himalaya to Sea.
