Kathmandu, May 18: Experts have warned that if the Earth's temperature is not controlled, a climate crisis will ensue in the future. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), 2024 is projected to be the hottest year in the past 130 years, and climate scientists have stated that if this trend does not decrease in the coming year, a climate crisis will occur.
Wealthy and developed countries have increased carbon and greenhouse gas emissions in the race for development, which is affecting the Earth's temperature and causing climate change, according to disaster expert Dr. Dharmaraj Upreti. "If the global community cannot reduce carbon emissions by 2030, we will face a crisis," he said, "and we will not be able to stop the temperature from rising by 1.5 degrees Celsius." He mentioned that if the temperature rise is not stopped, it will lead to climate crises such as glacial melting, depletion of water resources, rising sea levels, and extreme weather events affecting agricultural systems.
