Kathmandu, May 15: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he is in favor of appointing a capable person to the vacant post of Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank based on merit and not on the basis of personal proximity.

Addressing the formal launch program of the Pre-Planners’ Forum Nepal today, PM Oli said, "I will not bring any of my men to the Rastra Bank. Capable candidates will be brought on the basis of meritocracy. If people can work, the country will prosper. I don't want to say. I am the Prime Minister but I am not alone in the government. That is why I give priority to 'meritocracy' as much as possible."

Oli clarified that the chairman and members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission for Investigation of Missing Persons have also been appointed based on the report received from the Recommendation Committee. He clarified that he did not have any personal acquaintance or relationship with any official other than the one who knew the chairman of a commission when he was the chief secretary.

Oli wished for the organization of former planners to share their thoughts and experiences and wished for the sustainability of the organization without personality clashes.
