Of late, the surgical war between India and Pakistan has temporarily been stopped following a ceasefire on Saturday, May 10. We wish for a permanent end to the war between India and Pakistan and to end the disputes between the two countries through peaceful talks. Big hearts are needed among the leaders in both countries to resolve the disputed issues. If we go through the India-Pakistan disputes, started with the liberation of India as well as Pakistan in 1947 from British colonial rule. Kashmir was a sovereign nation with a Hindu king but a dominating Muslim population. After the division of India and Pakistan, the king of Kashmir wanted to merge the country into India, whereas, the Muslim population denied the decision. In a broadcast on November 2, 1947, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru announced that the fate of Kashmir would ultimately be decided by the people, once law and order was established, through a referendum "held under international auspices like the United Nations." The key to the permanent end of the Indo-Pakistan dispute lies here. If India and Pakistan accept the result of a plebiscite, the dispute will permanently be resolved. The seed of terrorism in the territory is the Kashmir issue and the solution is a plebiscite we believe.
We accept that India is a regional power, however, the leadership of the powerful country should perform the role of peaceful coexistence with small neighboring countries. Unfortunately, we see arrogant and ambitious leadership demonstrating imperialism. Such an attitude will not help to establish permanent peace in the reason, which can be counterproductive for India itself.
