
Kathmandu, May 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has commented that the war between India and Pakistan was halted due to his call for restraint. The tension between India and Pakistan had escalated into a war.
He made this comment during his address at the main ceremony of the 2569th Buddha Jayanti held in Lumbini on Monday. While explaining how Buddha's message will always be relevant, he said, 'Buddha's teachings are applicable to the world.'
He expressed that the situation had nearly escalated into a full-fledged war between India and Pakistan, but it was halted after he urged for restraint. “There was nearly a situation of big confrontation between India and Pakistan. We urged for restraint,” he said.
In the tension between the two countries, the government led by Oli supported India, stating that Nepal was not in favor of terrorism. He also expressed the view that it is necessary to spread Buddha's message for the peace of world human existence and the earth. He emphasized that we all need to internalize Buddha's teachings, teachings of peace, teachings of humanity, and teachings of compassion.
