
Kathmandu, May 12: Today, the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha is being observed across the country by organizing different programs.
Lord Buddha, born as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is worshipped, revered, and preached by all the Hindu and Buddhist communities worldwide. Buddha Jayanti is celebrated every year on the full moon day of Vaishakh Shukla Pakchya. A public holiday has been declared across the country on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
On this occasion, special programs are being organized at Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Swayambhu, Baudha, and other places.
Siddhartha Gautama was born on the day of Vaishakh Shukla Purnima, 563 BC i.e. 2569 years ago, in Lumbini Garden in Rupandehi district, Nepal, from the womb of mother Mayadevi, spouse of King Suddodhan.
