Ex-RAW chief R.K. Yadav, in a video interview, said that the senior UML and Maoist leaders were the boys groomed and sponsored by his organization RAW.
Even after such allegations those leaders named by Yadav, have not issued any denial statement, from which, we are compelled to believe that those “boys” worked for RAW. Should we?
Tyranny in the name of Loktantra
Just for being present at the March 28 peaceful assembly organized at Tinkune for the restoration of Monarchy, 72-year-old political leader Khemraj Shedhai has been arrested by the Police. Sedhai, advisor of the Joint Committee for the Movement for the Restoration of Monarchy, a former Nepali Congress leader, who quit the party and joined the campaign for restoration of monarchy two years ago, has been arrested on the charge of being involved in violence on March 28 Tinkune assembly of the pro-monarchists.
In fact, he felt sick when the Police fired tear gas at the stage and was rescued by the volunteers from the stage.
Accordingly, the government has performed a biased attitude towards Rabindra Mishra, senior vice chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Durga Prasain, the commander of the assembly organizing committee and others. The police under Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak have developed different fake charges, including being involved in a crime against the nation, and have remained under remand for almost 60 days. The court, which is considered to be impartial and autonomous, is extending the remand demanded by the Police, which is very surprising.
More surprisingly, the government is refusing to form an independent judiciary committee to investigate the March 28 Tinkune incident.
Such a tyranny we have been witnessing in “loktantra”!
Where is the governor?
It is shameful that the strong two-thirds majority government is unable to assign the governor even after one month of retirement of the governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank. According to the regulation, the new governor should have been named before the completion of the tenure of the sitting governor.
We were informed that there was a commission deal worth billions of rupees to get the governor’s post. Now, we are informed that PM Oli and his coalition partner Sher Bahadur Deuba have not been able to develop an understanding to name the new governor. Earlier, NC’s spokesman Prakashsaran Mahat said that as the executive chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority went to the UML, now, the governor should be from the NC. It means that the political parties in the government are planning to recruit their party confidants or those who are able to pay “commission in advance” to get the appointment.
Currently, the nation’s economy is sick and there is needed a professional and experienced governor so that the economy can be rescued. Unfortunately, the leaders are seeking their sycophants and relatives to assign to such a responsible post!

What kind of democracy are we building in Nepal? Is jailing and discrediting voices of dissent truly a democratic practice? Met Rabindra Mishraji in custody, composed and strong, but I left with many troubling questions. Are we really upholding the values of democracy?

In a minor incident of balloon blast in Pokhara, a judicial probe committee was constituted but why the government don’t form such a committee on the Tinkune incident? Will one get the permission to open fire once joining the government?
