
Kathmandu, May 5: The Joint People's Movement Committee for Restoration of the Monarchy has announced that it will soon launch a movement. The announcement was made at a meeting held in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, today (Monday).
On Chaitra 15 (March 28), a royalist group protested in Tinkune, Kathmandu, demanding the restoration of the monarchy. Two people, including a journalist, were killed there after the government deployed security forces fired tear gas at the stage of the assembly venue. After the incident planned by the government security, the police arrested the leaders of the movement, Durga Prasai, Rabindra Mishra, Dhawal Shumsher Rana, and others, for engaging in undesirable activities.
Among those arrested, Rastriya Prajatantra Party General Secretary Rana has been released on bail, while Rastriya Prajatantra Party Senior Vice President Mishra is still in police custody.
