
Kathmandu, May 4: Global IME Bank Limited organized the "Global IME AI/ ML Hackathon" program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Bam Bahadur Mishra was the chief guest at the event, which was attended by representatives of various organizations, including the chief executive officer, deputy chief executive officer, and senior managers of the bank.
In this competition, 21 teams were selected for online paper presentations. The teams participated from different places like Kathmandu, Mahendranagar, Pokhara, Birgunj, Kavre, and Dharan.
Among the participating teams, Team Calculus has won Rs 1 lakh as the first prize of the tournament. In addition, WDK, Larke Pass, Team Janakpur, and Fradex teams were awarded the second, third, fourth, and fifth prizes respectively. The second-placed team WDK won Rs 75,000, the third-placed team Larke Pass won Rs 50,000, and the fourth and fifth-placed teams Janakpur and Team Fradex won Rs 15,000 each. In addition, under the West Presentation Bidha, the Bank has awarded a prize of Rs 15,000 to Digivit.
Deputy Governor Bam Bahadur Mishra thanked the host Global IME Bank for conducting the hackathon on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for the first time in Nepal. Deputy Governor Mishra informed that Nepal Rastra Bank believes that this type of competition will provide opportunities to the youth and students as well as expand the reach of the service by using the latest technology in the services and facilities of the bank more effectively.
Global IME Bank has been awarded as Nepal's Best Bank in two categories under Global Finance's Best Bank Award 2024 and Euro Money Award for Excellence 2024. In addition, IME Bank has been awarded in different categories by various national and international organizations.
Global IME Bank is the first commercial bank in the private sector with a network of branches in the country's upper districts.
