On Monday, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden, the coordinator of the Parliamentary Subcommittee, submitted the report to Public Accounts Committee Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel.

The Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives formed two separate sub-committees to investigate the study-monitoring of Bhairahawa and Pokhara International Airport on June 28, 2024. The Committee formed to study and monitor Pokhara International Airport has submitted a report on Monday.

The members of the Sub-Cmmittee are MPs Arjunnarsingh KC, Gokulprasad Banskota, Janardan Sharma, Prem Bahadur Ale, Tara Lama, Tejulal Choudhury, Deepak Giri, Devprasad Timilsina, Ramkrishna Yadav and Rukmini Rana. According to the report, 10 billion rupees worth of corruption had taken place during the construction of the airport.

The Subcommittee had concluded that corruption was committed under the guise of a policy decision to build Pokhara Airport. The Subcommittee has suggested suspending those immediate Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) officials including the present chief, Pradip Adhikari and sending the report to the investigation agency for further action. However, the report is silent about the possible involvement of the political leadership including those ministers for tourism and civil aviation.
