Kathmandu, April 21: General Secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Member of Parliament Dr Dhawal Shumsher Rana has been released on attendance bail by the Kathmandu District Police.

Rana was arrested on March 28 on the charge of different cases following the violence in the mass assembly at Tinkune, Kathmandu.

The Police, considering his health condition, released him on attendance bail on Sunday evening, RPP’s spokesman Mohan Shrestha said.

Rana, who is undergoing cancer treatment, has been released considering his health condition.

The police have not released Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra, who was also arrested along with Rana.

Spokesman Shrestha said that keeping Mishra and other leaders under police custody is an injustice and a violation of an individual’s freedom guaranteed by the constitution.

Shrestha claimed that the leaders under police custody were not involved in violence. The police are preparing to file fake cases against those arrested following the mass assembly on March 28.
