A study report prepared by the Subcommittee on the construction of Pokhara Regional International Airport has been submitted to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament. After raising questions from various sectors and bodies, the parliamentary committee conducted a study and follow-up in accordance with the decision. An on-site study was conducted by the Lingden Coordinating Subcommittee.

The Subcommittee suspects manipulation of huge amounts, almost above 10 billion rupees, in the construction of the airport.

The Subcommittee held necessary discussions with the concerned bodies, local residents and experts involved in the construction of the airport. The report prepared by the Subcommittee mentions the overall aspect. The physical structure of the airport, the equipment, the runway and the site around the airport, the truncated runway were also approved on the spot.

The airport has been built at a cost of Rs 22 billion with a soft loan plus grant support from the Exim Bank of China. The airport was completed on December 29, 2022, and became operational on January 1, 2023. At present, domestic flights are operating regularly from the airport. In the international sector, recently two airlines have started flights to Chinese destinations. The committee has been asked to make appropriate decisions after studying the report prepared by the sub-committee.
