
Kathmandu, April 10: A panel led by senior advocate Prof. Dr. Vijay Prasad Mishra has been elected to the new working committee of the Nepal Bar Association. Mishra was elected as the president with 5,052 votes.
His rival, senior advocate Raman Shrestha, received 2,621 votes. Shrestha was defeated by Mishra by a margin of 2,431 votes. Raju Kaiti, who had filed his candidacy for the post of chairman, received 48 votes, Ujwal Ghimire 45 votes, and Ashish Poudel 54 votes.
Mishra's team has also been elected as Vice President from all provinces, including women. Padamprasad Limbu was elected as Koshi Province Vice President with 5,200 votes. Ajay Shankar Jha was elected as Madhes Province Vice President with 5,252 votes.
The team led by Mishra was supported by the UML and NC in the present coalition government.
