Kathmandu, April 7: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is going to hold a public meeting in Balkhu on Tuesday, April 8.

The RPP has decided to hold the meeting in Balkhu after the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, asked it to hold the meeting in Balkhu or Sifal instead of Bhrikutimandap, the previously set venue.

RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said that Tuesday's meeting will be held in Balkhu and party president Rajendra Lingden and other leaders will address the meeting.

Earlier, the RPP had informed the District Administration Office through an email that it was going to hold an assembly Bhrikutimandap. However, the District Security Committee meeting decided to allow the rally to be held at Balkhu or Sifal Chaur instead of Bhrikutimandap. Following this information, the RPP has chosen Balkhu as the venue.

Kathmandu's Assistant Chief District Officer Ashok Kumar Bhandari said that a meeting of the District Security Committee had concluded that it was not appropriate to hold the meeting at Bhrikutimandap as requested by RPP given the security sensitivities as the pre-determined program of the Rastriya Janamorcha and the teachers' movement.

Janman Gurung, the acting coordinator of the Joint People's Movement for the Restoration of Institution of Monarchy has also decided to support the RPP assembly.

The organizers have stated that the assembly will be peaceful.
