Kathmandu, April 6: Today’s the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Kathmandu has reached 290, which falls under the 'extremely unhealthy' category. India's capital Delhi is in the second position and Pakistan's Lahore is in the third position.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an AQI of less than 35 is considered to be favorable, and a level of 50 is considered normal. High levels of the AQI can have a negative impact on health. A high AQI increases the risk of long-term health problems such as lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and heart attack.
The Ministry of Health and Population has appealed to the people of Kathmandu to adopt health awareness. The ministry has urged people not to go out of the house due to the increase in dangerous air conditions, and to use quality masks if they are not aware.
