Kathmandu, April 5: Today is being observed as the Chaitra Dasain, also known as Chaitey Dasain, by the Nepali Hindu community. The festival will be observed by worshipping Hindu Goddesses. Meanwhile, the Newar community belonging to the Hindu and Buddhist community, also starts the Seto Machhindranath festival begining from today.

The Nepali Hindu community observes the Dasain festival two times a year.

Another festival will be observed as Vijaya Dashami, which falls in September or October.

After observing Chaitra Dasain today, the community celebrates the Ramnawami festival tomorrow, April 6 worshipping Lord Ram.The government has announced a public holiday on the occasion of the Ramnavami festival on Sunday, April 6.
