Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Senior Vice-President Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, are now in police custody. The two were arrested after the protest of Friday organised by pro-monarchy groups went violent accusing the two of instigating the participants to resort to violence. They have been charged with treason.

A bench of Kathmandu District Court (KDC) Judge Taradevi Maharjan extended their remand for five days, which concluded on Tuesday.

Mishra was handcuffed and brought before the Kathmandu Court for an extension of his remand, but General Secretary Rana was not handcuffed. Rana is a House of Representatives member elected from Banke.

As they were likely to be charged with crimes against the state after the preliminary investigation, the RPP has strongly objected to that.

In addition to the two, 31 others had been brought before the court to have their remands extended on charges of criminal mischief and organised crimes. However, Swagat Nepal was released.
