Kathmandu, March 26: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to visit Thailand from April 1 to attend the 6th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

The 6th BIMSTEC Summit will be held in Bangkok on April 4. PM Oli is paying an official visit to Thailand at the friendly invitation of his Thai counterpart Phetongtorn Shinawatra.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal has approved the official visit of Prime Minister Oli-led delegation to Thailand from April 1 to 5 and participation in the sixth summit of BIMSTEC.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Joint Secretary Krishna Prasad Dhakal said that the visit is expected to contribute to further deepening cultural activities and economic relations between Nepal and Thailand. He noted that the two countries have long enjoyed friendly relations based on Buddhism as well as other cultural and trade ties.

The Council of Ministers meeting has approved for the signing of the 'Cultural Agreement Between the Government of Nepal and the Kingdom of Thailand.
