Former chief of the Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Surya Prasad Upadhaya, has remarked that the political leaders in the government are involved in “system capture” by assigning their relatives, sycophants and party workers in the constitutional bodies and other government organs. Upadhaya has remarked that this process has personally benefitted those limited number of the supreme leaders of different political parties for capturing the state power, but the nation has been defeated. Those leaders have led the nation towards the path of collapse. He bluntly remarked, “We are a sovereign people for the name only, the nation is on the verge of becoming a failed state”.
The above allegations by a responsible member of the country are very serious to note.
Lessons from load shedding
Again, Nepal is facing the load shedding. This load shedding occurred due to the conflict between the government and Kulman Ghising, managing director of the NEA.
Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli and Minister Deepak Khadka want to oust Ghising and appoint their own puppet in the NEA, whereas, Ghising is retaining at the NEA under the court’s decision. The government is trying to prove that the 18-hour-long load-shedding was ended not because of a miracle from Ghising but because of the Indian kindness.
Instead of a timely deal with India, the government, to prove Ghising unsuccessful, has compelled the NEA to impose load-shedding in industries.
Those political leaders are not bothered by the loss faced by the industries but fulfilling their pity interests.
When Ghising decided to cut down electricity in industries which have not paid a huge amount of past dues, the government created obstacles. If such a trend will continue, the NEA will also collapse in the near future.
The lesson to be learnt is that Nepal must construct reservoir model multipurpose hydropower projects such as Budhi Gandaki and Upper Karnali by its own funding or managing soft loans from foreign financial institutions. Otherwise, the run-of-the-river model hydropower projects will not resolve the electricity scarcity during the dry season.
Now, Balen Shah is the target
NC leader and Minister Prakashman Singh has launched a campaign against Balen Shah, Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolice Corporation. Ward chairs from the Nepali Congress have submitted a petition against Balen Shah.
The government has already performed non-cooperation with Mayor Shah by refusing to send the chief administrator.
Understandably, the political leaders in the government didn’t wish to see constructive work carried out by Mayor Shah.
Monkeys never construct their house and destroy other’s houses.
Again, Nagarik Samaj
Again, the Nagarik Samaj (civil society) has appeared in the Kathmandu streets. The same faces rewarded with the Open Society funding are seen in the streets. As they are following the instruction of the Western “deep states”, their mission is clear. They are against Nepal and they are for destroying the Nepali civilization.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
If the people will desire, Gyanendra Shah can again become the king again. People will punish conspirators and corrupt Oli, Prachanda and Deuba.

The Institution of Monarchy is a symbol of national discipline and it never goes against national interests.

Don’t compromise on a Hindu Rastra. A Hindu Rastra can be adjusted in a republican system but not accepted by us. We want a Hindu Kingdom. It is needed for the country.
Manisha Koirala
Republicanism cannot be an alternative to democracy.
Lokesh Dhakal
The institute of monarchy should not be just for giving space to all the actors; we want a monarchy which can punish the culprits and corrupts; strengthen national unity; strengthen international relations; nationalize illegally earned properties; establish industries and safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and existence.
Gyanendra Gadal
If the Brahman pundits had become honest like Jagaman Gurung, the country should not have witnessed republicanism, secularism and federalism. Brahmans have already been sold out and become greedy for foreigners’ money. They are now lauding for a Hindu rastra without monarchy.
Dahal Chetri Basu
Major works that we have to accomplish: restricting all INGOs and NGOs; scrapping trade unions and abandoning federalism.

How I remember Girija Prasad Koirala: The leader who reduced the height of the ‘BP Path’ of the Nepali Congress to ‘GP Path’ and merged it with ‘Prachandapath’. A leader who kills the long-term interests of the country in a fit of rage and extreme dissatisfaction with the king. The leader is trapped in the ‘lollipop’ of becoming the country’s first president in a row with the king. The leader who demolished the Narayanhiti Palace and built a foreign palace in its place. The leader who destroyed the foundation of multiparty democracy with scandal, conspiracy, nepotism, incompetence, misrule and corruption; committed the Dhamija/Lauda scams; and destroyed the administration, the court, the school and university, and government industries.
Rabindra Mishra
According to the Customs Department, Nepal’s imports in the last eight months were Rs 1,145 billion and exports were only Rs 158 billion. Exports account for only 13.8 percent of imports. This import-export gap is probably the widest in the world. This figure says a lot about the state of the country.
Surya Raj Acharya
The electricity ministry seems happy when load-shedding starts again! His only mission is to oust the executive chief of the NEA.

Was that economic liberalization or privatization, the policy adopted by the Nepali Congress after 1990 political change? At the time of liberalization in the world, the so-called liberal Nepali Congress underwent unhealthy privatization. It was flawed. Is promoting private enterprise means selling government enterprise to private households?
Uddhav Raj Bhetwal
This challenge of asking the deposed king to “contest the election” is irrelevant. The former king and his supporters have never said that he would become a prime minister or a president. They have said that the King will come back as a king, the way to come is not the election, but through an amendment in the constitution. This is possible if all the political parties accept it, otherwise, a movement is obvious. For which preparations have been made.

Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae and JNU professor S.D. Muni consistently interfered in Nepal’s internal affairs, attacked Nepal’s sovereignty and insulted Nepalis by their words and actions. They should be barred from entering Nepal.

State capture is the act by which a person or group exercises control over important bodies of the state, such as courts, authorities, military, police, public service, universities, personnel administration, etc. for their own interests and benefit.
Kritika Tharu
State capture, in the present Nepali context, refers to the efforts of coalition parties and their chieftains to control laws, policies and regulations to serve their own advantage and vested interests by monopolizing the functions of all state organs.
Krishna Ghimire
In a democracy, meetings, processions and agitations are held against the law or against corruption or other issues! But it is surprising that the party which is leading the government is agitating against the royalists in the streets!

The Janakpur Ciggrate Factory was the base of the Madhesh economy.
