
Kathmandu, March 24: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Pandey has said that the process of signing a bilateral air service agreement between Nepal and Indonesia has been initiated.
Minister Pandey made this statement while speaking at a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee under the House of Representatives during a discussion on the Ministry’s progress and the programs, plans and strategies for the upcoming fiscal year.
He also informed the committee that the work of amending the bilateral aviation agreement and memorandum of understanding between Nepal and France is in progress.
During the discussion, Minister Pandey said, “There is no alternative to strengthening Nepal Airlines. There is no way to make the civil aviation sector effective without purchasing aircraft.”
The stronger Nepal Airlines becomes, the more capable it will be to deliver results. Minister Pandey also mentioned that there is a huge disparity in air ticket prices for domestic and foreign.
He also said that the bills regarding splitting the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal into two bodies, regulatory and service provider, would be presented in the House of Representatives on the 14th of next month after being approved by the Council of Ministers. Minister Pandey also informed that the action plan regarding regular flight operations at the Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport has been implemented with the approval of the Council of Ministers.
