Kathmandu, March 23: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the role of language, art, and literature is important in society’s development.

Speaking at a program organized by Madan Bhandari Foundation here on Saturday, she said poetry depicts the reality of society. Speaking at poet Tirtha Shrestha’s solo poetry recitation entitled “Swet Shardul Ek Yatra Kabita Siwir,” former President Bhandari expressed her experience of participating in a solo poetry recitation program for the first time and drew the organizers’ attention to the continuation of such programs.

There are various means to make society aware of the reality, poetry is such an effective medium, which allows understanding the country and the world in an instant,” she said, adding, “There are many organizers, everyone should continue their efforts to organize such programs from the district to the center and the international arena.”
