Kathmandu, March 22: Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has expressed strong displeasure with the UML, which is leading the government, and his own party, Nepali Congress, supporting the UML.
Speaking at a program of Morang-Kathmandu Liaison Committee on Friday, Koirala accused the ruling party of not giving effective results.
He expressed displeasure that the party leading the government is trying to exhibit its strength instead of addressing the general public’s problems.
There is hatred among the people now. At such a time, it is not about who the people are. It is necessary to remove the hatred seen in them,” Koirala said, adding, “If we do not address the dissatisfaction of the citizens, we may meet with an accident.” The party, which is leading the government, has decided to launch an awareness campaign across the country. “Is this the right time for the party in power to take to the streets? You have to question it,” Koirala questioned.
Koirala criticised the government for failing to put forward any clear agenda on the constitution amendment issue. Not only the UML, Koirala also criticised his own party leadership.
“You should write on social media that the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress should be held by November 2025. Writing like this can put pressure on the party,” Koirala said.
“Who will win and who will come in the party is in its place. But pressure should be exerted to keep the party running”, he remarked.
Leaders NP Saud, Dr. Minendra Rijal and Gururaj Ghimire also remarked that the party did not show effective work by staying in the government. They criticised the government and the party leadership for not taking any initiative to amend the constitution and make the House effective.
