
Kathmandu, March 19: Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa has taken charge after receiving insignia amidst a ceremony at the Home Ministry on Tuesday. After assuming office as the IGP, Thapa said that massive reforms are needed in the police force. He said he would initiate reforms within the police force.
He said, “We have nothing to hide as to how the police are.” “I also do not believe that the police will improve by hiding or suppressing those aspects. There is no need to wait for a reform in the force. There is no alternative to moving forward by accepting that the beginning of reform is not from anyone but from within. At the same time, he said he is committed to implementing peace and security in the country and guaranteeing human rights.
