
Kathmandu, March 18: Prime Minister and Chancellor of Kathmandu University (KU), K.P. Sharma Oli, has appointed Achyut Wagle as the Vice Chancellor of the University.
Wagle, who was appointed Registrar earlier by the then prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, has been appointed VC through a political sharing agreement between the NC and UML. Wagle is close to the Deuba camp in the Nepali Congress.
Earlier, a three-member committee formed to recommend names for the post of vice-chancellor had recommended different names for the post of vice-chancellor. The names recommended by the three members were kept secret.
The three-member recommendation committee coordinated by former chancellor Sureshraj Sharma was comprised by Prof Dr Arjun Karki and former education secretary Janardan Nepal. Twenty candidates had applied for the post of vice-chancellor of the KU.
