Kathmandu, March 15: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said that for the sustainable development of Nepal, mutual cooperation with China should be intensified. He remarked that more investment in areas of mutual interest through cooperation with China is needed.
Speaking at the ‘Kasthamandap Dialogue’ on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Nepal-China cooperation organized by the Foundation for Peace, Development and Socialism in Kathmandu on Saturday, he stressed the need to properly identify investment potential and prioritize new projects under the BRI.
Speaker Ghimire made it clear that Nepal, as a good friend and close neighbor, prides itself on China’s progress and wants to benefit from China’s unique development and prosperity through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership. “We would like to highly appreciate China’s support and cooperation in Nepal’s development efforts,” he said, adding, “We expect significant support from China for its smooth upgradation and sustainability in the context of Nepal being graduated from the list of least developed countries by 2026.” ’
Stating that the historical relations between Nepal and China are based on mutual trust, understanding and friendly cooperation, Speaker Ghimire said that the cooperation between the two countries should be further strengthened through the BRI. “This initiative should be taken as an opportunity to open new doors of economic growth and not just a means of developing cable infrastructure for Nepal,” he said.
