
Kathmandu, March 14: Youths gathered at the Basantapur Durwar Square to celebrate the Fagu festival with fanfare. Surprise to note, youths chanted slogans against political leaders, including Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and hailed the monarchy singing songs praising the royal institution on Thursday.
Youths were singing a popular Nepali song, “Deuralima Raja Bhetiyo, Chautarima Rani Bhetaiyo” (We met King at the summit base, we met the queen at the resting place).”
Fagu festival was observed in hill districts on Thursday, whereas, the festival also known as Holi is being observed in the Tarai districts today (Friday).

The festival is celebrated by exchanging colors and exchanging pleasantries with each other. With the arrival of the spring season, the Fagu festival, which brings the message of mutual harmony and goodwill, is traditionally celebrated on Thursday by playing with different colors and water balloons.
