Teachers from all over Nepal are now in Kathmandu to exert pressure on the government to endorse and implement the School Education Act.
On Saturday, they staged a powerful street protest to demand the enactment of the School Education Act. Organized by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, the protest saw teachers marching from Maitighar to NewnBaneshwar, holding placards and chanting slogans, calling for immediate government action.
The demonstration, led by the Federation, aimed to pressure the government to approve the much-awaited School Education Act, which the teachers believe is crucial for improving the education system in the country.
They also staged a protest at the central office of the Nepali Congress putting forth the same demands. Years have elapsed since the draft of the Act was prepared but the parliament has not endorsed it although each government said that the Act would be endorsed immediately. Even in the past, teachers staged protest in Kathmandu demanding the same.
