There is a popular song in Nepali that we cannot remain a Nepali if Nepal does not exist (Nepali Hami Rahula Kaha Nepalai Narahe). Nepal is our motherland. If we lose our motherland, we will remain stateless people. Today, many people are fighting to get back their country. They are shedding their blood and lives just to get their identity.
Nepal is our country but it is on the verge of disappearing. The nation’s decline started when our leaders started dancing to the foreigners’ tune. The 1990 people’s movement was sponsored by the Indians with the deep state plan of bringing Nepal under the Indian security umbrella. Accordingly, we saw a bloody “people’s war” which was solely sponsored by the Indians, which is not a secret or say the Indian leaders and the former RAW officials have disclosed this fact. If the political leaders in power had worked for the betterment of the nation and the countrymen, we could have appreciated them, unfortunately, foreign puppet political leaders continued dancing to the foreigners’ tune. They were directly involved in daylight loots on the government coffer. They exploited the people and the country and themselves became Maharaja. The present poor state of the nation is an example of how a vibrant nation can be ruined by bad politics and bad politicians.
The institution of monarchy was removed through a conspiracy, not through a referendum. The country was declared a secular federal republic without the people’s mandate but through a conspiracy of foreign powers. Therefore, the present system has not been approved and accepted by the people, that has been confirmed from the recent protest rallies in different parts of the country and also the human sea that appeared to welcome former King Gyanendra upon his arrival to Kathmandu from Pokhara on Sunday (March 9).
Deposed King Gyanendra was being greeted by the people, in the meantime, we were hearing people chanting slogans, “…thieves quit the country!” (…Chor, Desh Chhod!). Political leaders are scared of the very people today due to their wrong deeds. They, in a very low voice, are challenging the deposed King for not dreaming of becoming the king again. They are challenging him to contest the election and run a political party. The question goes back to the very leaders whether they conducted a referendum when they declared secularism, federalism and republicanism.
We saw presidents and vice presidents instead of a king. Unfortunately, those presidents and vice presidents could not stand above politics, however, the monarch was never inclined with any particular political party with the concept that a king should remain above politics. We believe that the Shah kings never went against the people’s aspirations and kings were more patriotic than the political leaders. Some so-called intellectuals are found to have said that the Shah kings ruled the nation for 240 years and what they did during their rule. We believe that King Mahendra had the opportunity to rule the nation only for 11 years. This period is the most precious tenure for Nepal as the King transformed the old and traditional Nepal into a modern one. Accordingly, King Birendra had the opportunity to rule the nation just for 18 years. After 1990, he was just a constitutional king and the country was directly ruled by the political leaders. Until the 1950, there was the Rana rule. Talking about the period of the active rule of the kings, only 29 years (11 years of King Mahendra’s direct rule and 18 years of King Birendra’s direct rule) are counted as the Shah kings’ rule in Nepal.
Indeed, it has been proved that the nation cannot move forward and achieve prosperity in the absence of the institution of monarchy. To conclude, Narayanman Bijukche, chairman of the Nepal Majdoor Kishan Party, known to be a patriotic leader, recently said, “A headmaster is needed to run a school properly. A principal is important to run an educational institution. In the same way, we need a king to run the country.” We agree with Bijukche. As we are passing through a crucial time, we need a king to save the nation and remain with an identity of being a Nepali.
