Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba is now on a religious tour to India.

She was scheduled to worship at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand India.

Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Amrit Bahadur Rai, and high officials of the ministry bade farewell to Minister Deuba at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday.

She will also undergo medical check-ups in India.

She will participate in the Raisina Dialogue to be organised by the Ministry of External Affairs of India in New Delhi from March 17. The prime ministers and foreign ministers of various countries of the world will attend the Raisina Dialogue.

Though it looks a personal visit as she flew to India to visit temples and undergo health check-ups, it becomes a formal visit because she is also attending a formal programme at the invitation of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. When she is attending the Raisina Dialogue, the government should pay her travel expenses.

It means she is visiting Babadham and undergoing health checkups at the government’s expenditure.

The visit clearly shows that powerful politicians still tend to go abroad for medical treatment despite their availability in the country. It is also our leaders do not trust our doctors. They are blowing millions of rupees in the name of medical treatment overseas.

Again, there are questions about whether foreign Minister Deuba’s India visit is aimed at improving the cold diplomatic relations between the two nations and also is it related to the cancellation of her husband Sher Bahadur’s visit at the last hours after knowing that he would be unable to meet high-level leaders.

Or was she there to brief Indian leaders about the pro-monarch rally of Sunday? Whatever the objects are, FM Rana has used the national coffer for her personal activities in India. She is not serving the nation but the nation seems to be serving her.
