Kathmandu, March 8: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Prasad Lingden has said that the King is far above the vote politics. “We are enough to contest elections”, Lingden said indicating the leaders who have challenged the deposed King to come into politics by contesting the election.

Addressing a mega mass assembly organized at Lalbagla in Birgunj today, he said former King Gyanendra Shah had given a message on the occasion of Democracy Day that the present political parties have ruined the country and now the monarchy is necessary for the country.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders of political parties have been challenging the former king to open a political party and come to the power through an election.

Responding to such challenges, Chairman Lingden replied that the king is an institution far above the politics of vote.

Accusing the political parties of selling the industries opened by kings, he said, “They closed the agricultural materials producing factory, sugar factory, Janakpur cigarette factory and today their names have been involved in dozens of corruption scandals.” Such leaders are now defying the king saying that the king should come to contest the election. I say we will fight elections with you. The king will not contest elections. There are people like us to contest elections. The king we want, the king we are trying to establish, is not going to contest with you. We don’t want the king of a particular political party, we want the king of the country”.
